This letter was written by a thankful mother of five children. Lev LeZulat was told about the family situation, checked and verified the need, then spared no expense to bring happiness and dignity to this family on the special day. |
We are coping with a difficult finanacial situation. The question of what to make for
lunch is not simple — sometimes the refrigerator is almost
empty.
A month ago my eldest son turned 13. It was time
for his Bar Mitzvah. We were very excited and happy, and we prayed for him with
endless prayers. But when it was time for the practical preparations we didn't have the money.
We wanted to make a respectable Seudat
Mitzvah (a gathering of family & friends) as is fit
for this special day. Our boy begged us to make it nice. He wanted to be like everyone else and to rejoice with his
friends. We wanted to buy him a new
suit and shoes. Most importantly, we wanted to buy him tefillin.
Our son deserved a Seudat Mitzvah like
every other Jewish boy — but in our bank account there was not an extra agora.
We had no solution. And the tefillin — from where would we take the money?
With tefillin there is no place for compromise.
At first I thought they worked an entire month only for our benefit to produce such a perfect evening. Afterwards, I found out that a day before, the organization made another Bar Mitzvah for an orphan boy — and the night after our Bar Mitzvah the volunteers made Sheva Brachot for a Ba'alei T'shuvah couple that had no one to support them.
How can they do this? They have real Mesiras Nefesh. I hope that the day
will come that I will be able to pay back some of the chessed of this wonderful
organization. I would like to merit to be among those who give rather than receive.
